25th Anniversary Celebration

Crossroads (Harris) celebrated 25 years of service to carers and cared for people in Harris on Tuesday 31st August 2012 in the Community Centre, Tarbert.

 

Past and present family carers, care attendants and committee members joined with representatives from funding bodies, the Convener of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Angus Brendan MacNeil, MP to enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by ladies of the Bays Cafe.

 

The Scheme has assisted 261 different clients and provided 69,201 hours over the 25 years as well as providing payroll support to 29 Self-Directed Support recipients.

 

Catherine Morrison who has been Chairman of the Scheme since its inception in 1985 said:  “This has been the result of a lot of hard work by the office staff, the faithfulness of committee members - many of whom have been with the Scheme since its inception, and the skill and commitment of our care attendants.” She also thanked the funders; Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, NHS Western Isles, Alzheimers, Cardrona Trust, Harris Disabled Group, Churches, local organisations and the community in general who have been very generous to the Scheme over the
